Now we get to the first theatrical release featuring Wonder Woman, one of the few superheroes well known to the general public prior to this millennium.

It’s terrific! In fact, I’ll share my post from when I checked into the theater on Facebook after seeing the film.

“Just watched Wonder Woman. 3 pressing questions on my mind:

1) Is this the greatest comic book movie ever made?

2) How the heck did D.C. go from a wildly uneven mess, one of the most bloated nonsensical convoluted attempts at an epic ever, and a feature-length bad joke to this?!

3) Couldn’t the beginning and ending sequences have been eliminated? We could have then pretended that those other three movies never happened and that this was the start of the D.C. Cinematic Universe.”

Four years later, it hasn’t stuck in my mind enough that I would call it the greatest comic book movie ever made. Not even sure I’d put it in the top 10, after revisiting the X-Men series and seeing how awesome some of the entries were.  Wonder Woman is definitely amazing though.

The early scenes on Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home island, are stunning and majestic.

We get to learn about her culture and her values, and once she’s an adult Gal Godot makes an incredibly alluring, compelling heroine.

The main part of the story, in America, is consistently exciting while also easy to follow. The production values are utterly stellar, recapturing the World War I-era, the cinematography and score are powerful, and Chris Pine

aka THIS guy

makes a first-rate love interest leading up to an unforgettable conclusion.

Highly recommended!

Bottom Line: Wow.

Up Next: The sequel.
