Now we get to something that was unprecedented. Although comic books routinely have characters with their own series join forces, there had never been a case where the main characters of different movies joined forces in one big film! It was quite a bold move on Marvel’s part and it paid off to say the least! Paid off to the tune of over $1,500,000,000 off of a $220 million budget and recommendations from 92% of the critics on the Tomatometer!

The plot is straightforward and exciting. Loki, using the tesseract he acquired in Thor and which we learned more about the origins of in Captain America: The First Avenger, tries to conquer Earth since he knows he will never rule Asgard. Nick Fury rounds up all the superheroes he calls “The Avengers” to save the day.

Of course idea is only part of any story – at least as important is execution . You can see that from watching DC’s attempts at a cinematic universe instead. This crown jewel (at the time) of the MCU has it all – great humor, amazingly choreographed fights, astonishing visual effects, absolutely top-notch cast.

Game: One Oscar winner (Gwyneth Paltrow briefly), four nominees (Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson)

Really, if you’re not convinced to watch it yet either you don’t like comic book movies or you just don’t like blockbusters. In either case, what is the matter with you?

Up next: The guy who started it takes center stage a final time.

Bottom line: INCREDIBLE.
