The Basketball Fix seemed the perfect movie for the 50s – a nice little noir – but isn’t available for free streaming. I talked about wanting to not pay for movies while I’m trying to work through the many I already own and haven’t seen.

So we movie ahead to the 60s. I remember we watched The Absent-Minded Professor in third grade and I was just bored, even though others seemed to find the black-and-white movie funny. Since it’s on Disney Plus I gave it another chance now.

The basketball jumping scenes were somewhat fun, but I didn’t care for the lead. He wouldn’t leave her alone even after she wanted nothing to do with him and then he began terrorizing her new boyfriend using his invention. That could have easily led to manslaughter, and considering we were supposed to find it funny I just stopped watching the movie.

Too bad, because I loved Fred MacMurray in Double Indemnity and The Apartment.

Bottom Line: Dud.

Up Next: Skipping another decade.
