Well let’s complete this project by talking about the original. I’ll work backwards. In order to get this movie you take the remake, which already underwhelmed me, and you:

-remove the change in the pivotal plot point the remake made to successfully increase tension

-replace Jason Clarke’s strong performance with an incredibly wooden one from Dale Midkiff

-have some of the scenes meant to be scariest take place in broad daylight instead of well photographed night

-go back from the remake’s dull-but-at-least-not-insulting ending to the book’s really dumb one

Okay I’m pretty much done. The only good thing the original had in its favor was Fred Gwynne. He’s not as good an actor as John Lithgow but he still played his part well and you can’t go wrong in a horror film using a giant with a baritone voice. RIP Herman Munster.

Bottom line: If you’re still gonna watch it after what I wrote why do you even care about my opinion?
