The last (to date) version of this story, the only one that was a Disney Channel premiere, and a good argument that we’ve had enough.

If you’ve already seen some or all the other versions, the story will feel played out at this point. If you haven’t seen those other ones, the story will seem new but still not interesting. The writing is too bland, missing any great laughs or heart. The actors don’t help – it’s as if the casting directors went out of their way to choose the LEASE charismatic people they could to play all the parts. I especially found the little boy really annoying – a far cry from Ryan Malgarini in the 2003 movie.

Of course what set’s this version apart is the music – in theory. However, there is not a single hummable tune. The songs in this musical just add to the boredom.

The other notable attempt to be different is adding a scavenger hunt that’s just lame and wholly boring compared to the rock audition in the 2003 movie.

My eyebrows were really raised when I saw this movie has a 67% approval rating on the Tomatometer but only a 3.7/10 average IMDB rating. This is a case where I agree with audiences instead of fellow critics.

I’ll leave it at that; I don’t want to discuss this anymore.

Bottom Line: Dozing off.

Up Next: Already did Little when it came out so finally time for Freaky.
